Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of MyFootballJournal. Please read them carefully. By signing up and using the service, you accept them. If you have questions, email hello@myfootballjournal.co.uk.
1. The service
MyFootballJournal is a parent-facing application that lets you record your child's grassroots football matches — stats, photos, voice notes — and keep them in a permanent journal.
The service is provided in three tiers:
- Free: 2 matches per month, with live stats capture and photo upload.
- Stats: £0.99 per month, 6 matches per month, plus voice-note transcription and season/career analytics.
- Reports: £3.99 per month, 6 matches per month, plus AI-generated post-match reports.
The free tier is provided indefinitely; we may add features or change limits at any time (with 30 days' notice to users on paid tiers), but we won't remove Free access.
2. Who can use it
You must be a parent or legal guardian. MyFootballJournal is not for children to use. You are the account holder. You are responsible for:
- Being the parent or legal guardian of any child whose data you add to the service.
- Providing accurate information (your email, your child's name, date of birth, etc.).
- Keeping your password secure. Don't share it with anyone. If you think your account has been compromised, email us immediately.
- Accepting our parental consent checkbox at signup, which confirms you consent to us processing your child's data under UK GDPR Art 6(1)(a).
3. Important: photos and content you upload
You are responsible for the content you upload. When you upload photos, voice notes, or written match notes, you may capture other people — colleagues, other children, family members. Before uploading, make sure you have the necessary permissions.
Do not upload recognisable images of other children unless their parents have given you permission. This includes match photos where another child is clearly visible.
By uploading content, you confirm:
- You have the right to upload it.
- It does not infringe anyone else's rights.
- It does not break any laws (e.g., defamation, harassment).
If another parent asks you to remove a photo, you must remove it. If you upload content that breaks these rules, we may delete it without warning and suspend your account.
4. Your account and data ownership
You own your content. The photos, voice notes, and match data you upload remain yours. We don't own them, we don't sell them, and we don't license them to anyone else.
We have a licence to host and display it. By uploading, you give us permission to:
- Store it on our servers (AWS).
- Display it back to you in your journal.
- Process it (e.g., transcribing voice notes, generating AI reports).
- Share it if you choose to create a password-protected family share link.
These permissions end when you delete your account or delete specific items. Once deleted, we stop using them (except as required by law — e.g., if a regulator requests data, we may need to produce it).
5. Pricing and billing
Free tier: Free, always. No hidden costs.
Paid tiers: Billed monthly to your Stripe account. Subscriptions are charged on the same day each month. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime via the customer portal — changes take effect at your next billing cycle.
Cancellation: No refunds for partial months. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access until the end of that month. If you downgrade (e.g., from Reports to Stats), you keep the higher tier until the next billing date.
Invoice access: Invoices are available in your account portal and via Stripe.
6. Game-count limits
The Free tier includes 2 matches per month; the paid tiers include 6. These are rolling monthly limits. We count a match as "used" when you finish recording it (not when you start).
If you hit your monthly limit, the app will block you from starting a new match until:
- Your billing cycle resets (the next month), or
- You upgrade to a higher tier.
If you have questions about your meter, email us at hello@myfootballjournal.co.uk.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use MyFootballJournal to:
- Upload illegal content (e.g., child abuse material).
- Upload defamatory, harassing, or abusive content.
- Attempt to break or hack the service, reverse-engineer it, or bypass our security.
- Spam, phish, or scam other users.
- Collect data from other users without permission.
Breach of this clause may result in immediate account suspension or termination, with or without notice.
8. Termination
You can cancel anytime. Email us or use the customer portal to cancel your subscription. We'll stop billing you at the next cycle; your account and data remain available until the end of that month.
You can request account deletion anytime. We'll delete all your and your child's data within 30 days. See our Privacy Notice for details on the right to erasure.
We can terminate your account if you breach these terms (e.g., uploading illegal content, attempting to hack the service). We'll give you notice where reasonably possible, but we reserve the right to suspend immediately if necessary for safety.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UK law:
- Our total liability to you is limited to the greater of: (a) £10, or (b) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages (lost profits, lost data, reputational harm, etc.), even if we were aware of the possibility.
- These limits do not apply to: death, personal injury, fraud, or breaches of your legal rights that the law forbids us to exclude.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. If the change is material, we'll email you and give you 30 days to object. If you continue using the service after that period, you accept the new terms. If you don't accept them, you can delete your account.
11. Dispute resolution
First, try to sort it out: Email hello@myfootballjournal.co.uk and we'll try to resolve the issue. Most problems are solved this way.
If that doesn't work: Any dispute is governed by the laws of England and Wales and shall be resolved in the English courts.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
13. Severability
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is severed, but the rest of the terms remain in effect.
14. Entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Notice, make up the entire agreement between you and us. Any prior agreements, understandings, or representations are replaced by these terms.
